![]() Unfortunately I'm in Canada and it seems our lawmakers aren't as progressive or supportive of consumers here. The laws are referred to as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act (MMA) and the Sherman Antitrust Act and Clayton Antitrust Act. I haven't tried any of it but it seemed interesting - lots of good discussion anyway.Īlso, you aren't in the US by any chance are you? There are several pieces of legislation in the US that prohibit companies from voiding warranties when an end user wants to use a third-party laser toner or inkjet cartridge that has not been made by that company. Maybe have a look at this recent posting about Qimage targeted nozzle cleanings. I was wondering whether there's some software (a RIP could probably do that) that can control which channels are used while printing, and if that's the case I would be able to print by omitting the VLM channel.ĭoes anybody know of a way to achieve that, either a RIP or a different program that has this functionality? The problem is, there are always 2 or 3 random nozzles still firing, creating some faint banding on the prints. ![]() The gamut doesn't seem to change at all, and given a large enough number of patches and some optimization the results are more than acceptable. ![]() Just out of curiosity, I tried creating some profiles with the printer as is (the VLM is not firing at all), with surprisingly good results. One third option is using the printer by omitting the non-functioning color altogether. My options now are either paying the full price for a head replacement or selling the printer for parts, at a great loss in both cases. ![]() ![]() The printer is still in warranty, but the guys at Epson won't replace the printhead as part of it, as I'd been using 3rd party ink with it. I then contacted the local Epson dealer, and the technician said it's probably a head problem and it would need a replacement head. I tried every method listed on the web for cleaning with no success. I had been using an Epson 4900 for a couple of months, when one of the colors (the Light Vivid Magenta) suddenly stopped outputting ink (nozzle checks are completely missing the VLM part except for 2 or 3 random nozzles). ![]()
